Have you seen our new benches?

Posted on March 2, 2018 at 11:25 AM Comments comments (0)

Have you seen our new benches on the green at the top of the estate? They we requested by the committee from council funding and facilitated by our ever helpful councilor Olivia Rowley who work hard to coordinate their manufactuer and installlation. We are currently thinking about designating one of them at a "Talking Bench" as part of an awareness drive on the estate about the issue of loneliness. So if you see someone sat there by themselves don't hesitate to sit down and strike up a conversation.

Yet another missing Christmas tree

In case you were wondering about the poularity of the Christmas tree on the top green we can only say that they must be popular with at least one person as yet another one seems to have been stolen. The trees were recently moved by the council from their original spot to the side of the path in ordgrass cutting and to avoid an unsightly over growth in on area because the large cutting machines could not negotiate the trees. I thought that their new situation looked rather splendid and obviously brought them to the attention of at who obviously admired them so much they decided to make one of them a key feature of their own garden. Lets hope that the rest can be lsft in peace to mature slowley and bring pleasure to all residents in years to come.

Welcome!

Litter Pick October 2017

Another litter pick was held on Wednesday 4th October. Unfortunately only the committee members turned up but we did collect 3 bags of rubbish mainly from the top of the estate, curtesy of our parking friends who seem to think our road is the ideal place to empty their cars of litter that has accumulated in their car. Much of it is food and drink related. Other common refuse is drinks cans (alcohol) dropped by revellers on their way home from night outs in Wakefield, who seem unable, having walked holding onto their cans from town, but cannot make it 20 or 30 meters to the next lamp post bin to dispose of them.

please can you spare 30 minutes to an hour to help out at our next litter pick?

Does anyone know of the whereabouts of one of the three Christmas trees planted on the triangle of land at the top of Forest Close?
